MidCap Financial was acquired by an entity managed by Apollo as the firm’s first middle market origination platform.
Apollo affiliates made a strategic investment in Catalina Holdings to expand capabilities in the non-life insurance legacy sector.
AmeriHome was founded in 2013 by AmeriHome management, Apollo Funds and subsidiaries of Athene.
Redding Ridge was stood up as an independently-managed affiliate of Apollo in 2016 specializing in structured credit and CLO management.
Athora was established when AGER Bermuda Holdings Ltd. was deconsolidated from Athene.
In 2018, Venerable was stood up by an investor group led by Apollo following the acquisition of Voya Financial’s Closed Block Variable Annuity business.
In 2020, Athene made a strategic equity investment in Jackson National Life Insurance Company as part of a fixed annuity block reinsurance transaction.
In 2021, Apollo and Athene acquired a minority interest in Challenger to expand into Australia’s retirement services market.
In 2022, Apollo completed its merger with Athene, bringing the two strategic partners together in full alignment as one publicly-traded parent company under the Apollo name.
In 2022, LeasePlan USA and Wheels Donlen combined to create a unified fleet management business, with Athene serving as the lead investor in the transaction and being the majority shareholder of the new company.
Apollo launched ATLAS SP Partners as a high-growth specialty finance franchise in 2023 following Apollo affiliates’ purchase of a significant portion of Credit Suisse’s Securitized Products Group.
